Shortly following the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, eleven professional and technical organizations and federal agencies formed The Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP) as a non-profit partnership to be a national asset facilitating dialogue on domestic infrastructure security and offering sources of technical support and sources for comment on public policy related to the security of the nation’s built environment. TISP is a national leader in infrastructure security and resiliency with a diverse membership supporting the nation’s economy and well being of its people. TISP pledges to lead public- and private-sector collaboration that advances the practice and policies of infrastructure security and resiliency to sustain the nation’s resources and its ability to efficiently restore infrastructure when disrupted by any hazard. Our membership continues to grow and includes local, regional, state, federal, and foreign agencies, professional associations and industry trade groups, engineering, architecture, and construction firms, codes and standards organizations, educational institutions and universities, planners and economic developers, infrastructure owners and operators, manufacturers, and service providers whose main purpose is related to security and resiliency of the nation’s built environment. Collectively, TISP represents nearly two million individuals and firms involved in the planning, design, construction, and operation of infrastructure. Our primary objective is to create a collaborative and coordinated environment enabling secure and resilient infrastructure, which will raise awareness and will support the nation’s economy and well being of its people. TISP activities provide opportunities to its members for partnering on projects, for peers to learn from one another, for sharing relevant information during key discussions, and to raise awareness among the decision makers and the general public. Our activities include quarterly technical forums, roundtable discussions and workshops, and co-sponsored events. TISP relies on the efforts of all its partners to participate in TISP sponsored activities and to help guard against complacency. All-hazard threats to the nation’s infrastructure remain all too real. Through the dedication and focus of TISP members we maintain our momentum and remain responsive to the safety and security needs of the nation. Additionally, TISP’s communications network helps to raise awareness by showcasing the latest developments and activities in infrastructure resilience by maintaining a monthly TISP e-Newsletter and a comprehensive website. The communications network brings together the marketing and media relations experts of the membership to plan and develop outreach materials and promote partner activities. |
